Inkscape Vector Illustration

About This Piece
This project wasn't just an illustration; it was my ticket to the FOSSEE Summer Fellowship. The challenge? Create something professional, but do not use Adobe.
The "Adobe" Withdrawal
I grew up on a diet of Adobe Flash and Illustrator (shoutout to my 7th-grade "Senior Animator" course!). So when the FOSSEE selection round demanded Inkscape, I felt like a mechanic stripped of his favorite wrench.
But I needed that fellowship. So, I dove in.
Inkscape: The Underdog
Moving to Open Source was... interesting.
- The Shock: "Where is my Shape Builder tool?!"
- The Surprise: Inkscape was lightweight. It didn't choke my poor Intel i3 laptop like Illustrator did.
- The Verdict: While it lacked some polish, it forced me to be cleaner with my vectors. I couldn't rely on automated plugins; I had to draw every curve with intention.
The Result
This vector art proved two things:
- Free software is not "inferior" software.
- It’s not the tool that makes the artist, but the hand holding it.
(Spoiler: It worked. I got the fellowship.)
