Shine Healthcare Hackathon 2025

The Shine Healthcare Hackathon 2025 was a major statewide innovation initiative in Tamil Nadu designed to catalyze next-generation healthcare solutions. It was organized by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in collaboration with StartupTN and Aakam360/Aakam Shine.

Key Highlights

Purpose: To discover and support innovative solutions in medical technology, digital health, and AI-driven healthcare.

Themes: Focused on Medical Devices & Wearables, AI in Healthcare, Telemedicine, Biotech/Pharma, and Mental Health.

Timeline: Launched in June 2025 by the Tamil Nadu Health Minister. The Grand Finale took place on September 25 & 26, 2025, at the Dr. M.G.R. Medical University campus in Chennai.

Regional Cohorts: Preliminary rounds were held across various locations, including Salem (at Sri Shanmugha Educational Institutions) and Coimbatore.

Participation & Incentives

Eligibility: Open to students, startups, technologists, and healthcare/medical professionals.

Prizes: A total cash prize of ₹2 Lakh was awarded to winning teams.

Support: Top 5 teams received one year of free incubation support at Aakam Shine, while others gained prototype assistance and market access.

Outcome

Our incredible interdisciplinary team—consisting of Dr. Aghosh B Prasad, Dr. Rengarajan GP, Dr. Naveen Prasath, and Dr. Kaarthikeyan—participated and were selected for the Grand Finals. We successfully won the thrilling first round at Madurai Medical College and proceeded to the finals at the Dr MGR Medical University in Chennai.

While we didn't secure the top prize in the finals, we were invited to meet with StartupTN for further opportunities to develop and incubate our prototype. The event was a true success, fostering rich networking, intensive problem-solving, and highlighting Sri Shanmugha Educational Institutions as a key regional hub for innovators.
