Project Overview

DIIMUN Chapter 2 (2026) (Doctors Integrated International Model United Nations) is South Asia's flagship parliamentary medical diplomacy conference, organized by Doctors Nexus Amity (DNA) at the Government Homoeopathic Medical College Trivandrum (GHMCT).

Following the success of Chapter 1, DIIMUN 2026 reimagined the conventional Model UN framework from the ground up. Instead of standard geopolitical simulations, the conference convened The Great Homeopathic Assembly—a theatrical, high-level diplomatic arena where delegates embody 11 legendary historical medical stalwarts to debate chronic disease doctrine, modern clinical integration, and health diplomacy.

To orchestrate this multi-faceted simulation, I designed and built diimun.org—a full-stack conference platform engineered with Next.js 16 (App Router), React 19, Tailwind CSS v4, Drizzle ORM, SQLite (better-sqlite3), Razorpay, and automated EXIF camera metadata authentication.

The Engineering Challenge: A Radical MUN Architecture

Standard event management platforms and generic MUN forms fall short when faced with the unique structural constraints of DIIMUN 2026:

  1. The Pioneer Allocation Problem: Delegates could register individually or as delegations of 2–4 members representing one of 11 Historical Medical Stalwarts (e.g., Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, Dr. J.T. Kent, Dr. C. von Boenninghausen). The system needed an intelligent balancing algorithm to prevent over-subscription of popular stalwarts while assembling solo registrants into coherent pioneer delegations.
  2. Authenticating the International Press Corps (IPC): The press wing featured two distinct competitive disciplines:
    • News Article Writing: Editorial commentary filed under 12 fictional satirical news agencies.
    • Photojournalism: Live press photography demanding forensic verification to prevent AI-generated imagery, downloaded web stock, or pre-shot photos.
  3. Double-Blind Evaluator Scoring: Academic judges needed a real-time portal to evaluate debates, press conferences, and investigative essays without seeing delegate names, colleges, or chest numbers.
  4. Idempotent Ticketing & Dynamic Badge Generation: Registration needed direct payment capture via Razorpay with automated transactional confirmation emails and cryptographically signed PDF entry badges.

Core Technical Innovations

1. The Great Homeopathic Assembly & Dynamic Delegation Balancing

In conventional MUNs, delegates represent nation-states. In DIIMUN 2026, the entire plenary is structured around 11 Canonical Historical Stalwarts:

  • Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (The Founder)
  • Dr. James Tyler Kent (High-Potency Philosophy)
  • Dr. Clemens von Boenninghausen (Concordances & Modalities)
  • Dr. Cyrus Maxwell Boger (Pathological Generalities)
  • Dr. Constantine Hering (Law of Cure)
  • Dr. Adolphe Lippe, Dr. Timothy Field Allen, Dr. William Boericke, Dr. John Henry Clarke, Dr. George Vithoulkas, and Dr. Rajan Sankaran.

Interactive Pioneer Stalwarts RosterThe 11 historical medical Pioneers and their doctrinal committee mandates.

Delegation Allocation Engine (delegationEngine.ts)

Delegates apply as Solo Pioneers, Duos, or Full Delegations (up to 4 members). The engine enforces seat limits and automatically generates deterministic chest numbers (P-01-D1, P-01-D2):

// Type contract for Pioneer Delegation balancing
export interface PioneerDelegation {
  pioneerId: string;
  pioneerName: string;
  maxSeats: number;
  allocatedDelegates: Delegate[];
  status: 'OPEN' | 'BALANCED' | 'LOCKED';
}

export function assignPioneerChestNumber(
  pioneerCode: string,
  seatIndex: number,
  edition: number = 2026
): string {
  const paddedIndex = String(seatIndex + 1).padStart(2, '0');
  return `DIIMUN-${edition}-${pioneerCode}-D${paddedIndex}`;
}

2. International Press Corps (IPC) & The 12 Satirical News Agencies

The media dimension of DIIMUN was architected as a living journalistic ecosystem. Delegates registered for the Press Corps represented one of 12 Fictional Satirical News Agencies, each with distinct editorial biases:

  • The Kentian Chronicle: High-potency philosophical absolutism.
  • The Boenninghausen Bugle: Empirical, modality-focused investigative exposés.
  • The High Potency Post: Hardline constitutional reporting.
  • The Miasmatic Mirror: Sensationalist tabloid covering medical scandals and plenary debates.
  • The Similia Sentinel, Allopathic Times, and others.
International Press Corps Dual DisciplinesDual disciplines: Investigative Journalism and Live Photojournalism.

3. Automated EXIF Metadata Forensic Pipeline

In modern photojournalism competitions, preventing AI-generated imagery (Midjourney, Stable Diffusion) or pre-captured stock photography is paramount.

I implemented an automated EXIF Forensic Pipeline utilizing exifr and Sharp:

  1. Metadata Parsing: The moment a press delegate uploads a photo submission, the server reads binary EXIF and IPTC headers.
  2. Camera Sensor Verification: The system extracts Camera Make, Model, Lens Serial, ISO, Focal Length, and Shutter Speed.
  3. Timestamp Windowing: Confirms the photo was captured strictly within the conference active hours (17–19 April 2026) at the Trivandrum venue.
  4. Synthetic Image Flags: Checks for metadata signatures characteristic of AI generation engines or canvas tampering.
import exifr from 'exifr';

export async function verifyPhotojournalismSubmission(fileBuffer: Buffer) {
  const metadata = await exifr.parse(fileBuffer, {
    tiff: true,
    exif: true,
    gps: true,
  });

  if (!metadata || !metadata.Make || !metadata.Model) {
    return { valid: false, reason: 'Missing original camera hardware EXIF tags.' };
  }

  const captureDate = new Date(metadata.DateTimeOriginal || metadata.CreateDate);
  const conferenceStart = new Date('2026-04-17T08:00:00+05:30');
  const conferenceEnd = new Date('2026-04-19T20:00:00+05:30');

  if (captureDate < conferenceStart || captureDate > conferenceEnd) {
    return { valid: false, reason: 'Timestamp outside conference operating window.' };
  }

  return {
    valid: true,
    hardware: `${metadata.Make} ${metadata.Model}`,
    exposure: `1/${Math.round(1 / metadata.ExposureTime)}s, f/${metadata.FNumber}, ISO ${metadata.ISO}`,
    timestamp: captureDate.toISOString()
  };
}

4. Double-Blind Evaluator Scoring Suite

To guarantee total academic integrity, judges access an evaluator dashboard that renders delegate work behind Cryptographic Anonymity Tokens:

  • Blinded Rubric: Evaluators grade speeches, cross-examinations, and journalistic articles across 5 dimensions:
    1. Doctrinal Fidelity & Historical Accuracy (25 pts)
    2. Parliamentary Eloquence & Diplomatic Poise (25 pts)
    3. Rebuttal Agility & Cross-Examination (20 pts)
    4. Working Paper Formulation (15 pts)
    5. Decorum & Consensus Building (15 pts)
  • Zero Identity Leakage: Neither college name, delegate name, nor physical chest number is exposed to evaluators during scoring.
  • Audit Trail: Every score submission is cryptographically signed and stored in SQLite via Drizzle ORM.
Delegate Registration and Track Selection FlowTiered registration workflow with instantaneous Pioneer seat validation.

5. Multi-Day Plenary Timeline & Venue Command

The web application features an interactive Plenary Schedule and Venue Guide:

  • Day 1: Formal Diplomatic Roll Call, Stalwart Declarations, and Press Conference 1.
  • Day 2: Substantive Doctrinal Debate, Working Paper Drafting, and Unmoderated Caucuses.
  • Day 3: Final Plenary Voting, Resolution Passage, and Valedictory Honors.
